Welcome to APS-NC

Created at the beginning for largemouth bass fishing and preservation, our club has now a Fly fishing section. New Caledonia has a huge potential for seawater fly fishing with the biggest bonefish - probably the next world record will come from here - and also giant trevally, jacks, groupers, snappers, pacific tarpon, etc..

Wou will find, on the english part of our site, information on New Caledonia, Fishing operators in our country and a photo gallery. You can react or ask information on our forum or sign our guestbook.

Enjoy the visit and tight lines!

.: Saltwater Fishing in New Caledonia :.

It is impossible to present all the fishes that can be caught in New Caledonia. In one day flyfishing you can catch 20 to 30 different species. Let me introduce you two of my favourites and look to our gallery or at the sites you can reach through our Fishing in New Caledonia page.

We are very lucky to have probably the biggest bonefish of the Pacific. Don't be surprised if you ear, one day, that the new world record has been caught in our waters!
Bonefish is everywhere around New Caledonia but, at this time, 2 main areas are covered by operators:

Boatpass: In the far north of the island endless acres of unspoiled flats, much of them unfished and still unexplored where you will be with no other fisherman around.

Ouvea: Called by japanese "the closest island from paradise", Ouvea has kilometers of white sand beaches, surrounding a real fish reserve.

Trevally: more than 20 different species of trevally can be found in our waters, including the Giant Trevally. On a fly, Spinning or casting with a popper, trolling, a trevally is allways a big excitment. Look to our photos gallery for the big trevally schools or the catches from our members.

.: Freshwater Fishing in New Caledonia :.

Mainly located in Yate Lake, Largemouth bass is one of our main target for freshwater fishing. Bass have been introduced in the 60's. 19 fingerlings coming from Hawaii where released in the lake for recreational fishing. In 1992 our club has conducted, with the university, a survey that has estimated bass population at 28,000 with a 7 fish/hect density and an average length of 35 cm. Some fishes can reach 2 to 3 kg. Some bass have also been introduced in private lakes with success.

Jungle perch, called here "Doule", is a native inhabitant of our rivers. It is a very intesresting fish to catch on a fly with a surprising defense. In Australia, trips are organized to fish them. One some of our east coast rivers it can reach 2 kgs.
